Sustainability

Long-term

LOOKING BEYOND OUR GENERATION

As a family-owned company, we take our responsibility towards people, the environment, and society seriously. That is why we continuously work to make our operations more sustainable through the use of renewable electricity, on-site solar energy generation, reduced packaging materials, and lower energy consumption.

Since 2022, we have measured our CO₂ emissions in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol. We are also committed to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and aim to reduce our Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by at least 42% by 2030, compared to our 2022 baseline. In recognition of our sustainability efforts, Bergbanket is EcoVadis certified.

Every day, we take meaningful steps towards a more sustainable future, without compromising on quality and taste.

few E-nummers

Natural ingredients

We choose to use as few E-numbers as possible in our products and as many natural ingredients as possible. Sustainability is central to us: that is why we only work with raw materials that have been produced as responsibly as possible. Where possible, we buy our ingredients locally to keep CO₂ emissions to a minimum. In addition, we give waste streams such as brewer’s grains, vegetables and fruit a second life in our products. In this way, we combine taste, quality and sustainability.

Reduction of plastic and food waste

Sustainable packaging: less plastic, less waste
At Bergbanket, we are actively committed to reducing plastic and minimising food waste. We use sustainable packaging materials, such as foil and boxes made from recycled materials. In collaboration with our suppliers, we are constantly looking for ways to make our packaging more sustainable without compromising on product quality.

We have taken several concrete steps in recent years. For example, we have replaced the plastic trays used for our crackers and rusks with a cardboard sleeve and switched from traditional clip bags to resealable foil packs. This has led to a significant reduction in plastic use.

In addition, the resealable foil ensures that our products stay fresh longer, which helps to reduce food waste.

Energy consumption

Energy efficiency is an important part of our sustainability strategy. When making new investments, we consciously choose energy-efficient equipment and optimise our processes to minimise energy consumption. We further improve our energy sustainability by purchasing only green electricity, generated from solar and wind power. In addition, we generate part of our energy ourselves with our solar panels.

take care of our employees

A sustainable employer

We consider sustainable employment practices to be equally important. We offer our employees a healthy working environment, flexible working hours wherever possible, and fair wages. In this way, we not only ensure high-quality products, but also a strong and committed organisation.

At Bergbanket, we are proud of our sustainability efforts. We remain committed to reducing our ecological footprint and making a positive impact on our environment. In doing so, we comply with SEDEX requirements, for which we are also audited.

BergBanket is EcoVadis certified. This internationally recognized certification confirms our commitment to sustainability, ethical business practices, and corporate social responsibility. It demonstrates that quality and responsibility go hand in hand in everything we do.
